BABLB 2016 Recap

April 19, 2016

Thanks to everyone who came out for the 2nd Annual Barrel Aged Bootleg Bash!

We had a lot of laughs, a lot of beers, and a pretty damn good time.

Just to recap, at this years event we featured these beers:

– 2013 Barrel Aged Olde Ale
– 2015 Barrel Aged Olde Ale
– Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout
– Imperial Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout
– Barrel Aged Big Bertha Barleywine
– Barrel Aged Brown
– Barrel Aged Holly’s Lust
– Barrel Aged 5/4 Porter
– Barrel Aged Lucky #13
– Barrel Aged Brian’s Remorse
– 2014 Barrel Aged Reverent Monk Belgian Trippel
– Piquant Penguin Sour Ale

The choices were intense. With some only featured on draft, while others were available both on draft and in bottles, it was quite the line up. The major talking points of 2016 were our Imperial Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout and Piquant Penguin Sour Ale. It was a first time appearance for both of these beers at any event and we are proud of how they stood out.

The Imperial Barrel Aged Neapolitan Milk Stout was aged for 10 months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels. It rang in at a smooth 10.5% ABV with rich chocolate, vanilla and strawberry notes balanced well with strong bourbon characteristics.

Our Piquant Penguin was years in the making with 28 months in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels. Tart, sour and complex flavors made this beer a unique drink at 6.0% ABV.

Thanks to the beautiful Spring day, we were able to open up the bay doors and enjoy some sunshine around the barrel walls we created for the event.

We would like to thank our friends The Cheap Dates for rocking out all afternoon and providing us with such great entertainment.

We would also like to thank our pal, Dan Miller, at The Beer Truck for the amazing photography.

Most importantly, we would like to thank all who attended to enjoy the beer. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.

See you next year!
